CHRISTINE M. CASTELLANO
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL COUNSEL, CORPORATE SECRETARY AND CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Christine M. Castellano is senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer for Ingredion Incorporated, a $6.3 billion, NYSE-listed company. Christine is responsible for the worldwide management of the Company’s legal affairs. She provides advice and counsel to the Company’s board of directors, officers and management, and directs activities of internal and outside legal counsel around the world. A former litigator, Christine has been involved with numerous litigation matters, including a NAFTA Chapter 11 dispute with Mexico and complex environmental matters in jurisdictions around the world.
Christine joined the Corn Products Division of CPC International, Inc. (a predecessor company of Ingredion Incorporated) in 1996 as attorney, and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including counsel, US and Canada and associate general international counsel. Most recently, she was vice president, international law and deputy general counsel. Prior to joining the Company, Christine was an income partner in the litigation department of the law firm McDermott, Will & Emery in Chicago, with emphasis on construction, labor and employment and general commercial litigation.
Active in the ABA International Law Section, Christine was communications officer of that section and a member of the section’s council from 2013 through 2015 and serves as a member of the publications committee. In 2011, she received the section’s inaugural Outstanding Corporate Counsel Award. She is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, The Conference Board Council of Chief Legal Officers, The MAPI Law Council, The Midwest General Counsel Forum and the North Shore General Counsel Association.
In 2014 Christine was among the National Law Journal’s 50 Outstanding General Counsels and her department was recognized as Legal Department of the Year: Corporate Compliance by the New Jersey Law Journal. In 2015, the department was recognized by the National Law Journal as a Chicago Legal Department of the Year: Outside Counsel Management.
In the community, Christine serves as a member of the boards of trustees of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, The John Marshall Law School and the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, and is on the women’s board of the Chicago Zoological Society. She was elected to The Economic Club of Chicago in 2015.
Christine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Colorado and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan School of Law. She was admitted to the Colorado bar in 1990 and the Illinois bar in 1991.
